Australia\'s fisheries may be in for a big boost if scientists\' work pays off. It is commonly believed that oysters can play \"a certain role\" in affairs of the heart. What people might find harder to imagine is that the creatures have a heartbeat of their own and that Australian research scientists are working on an ambitious project to measure it.

It is one of the more extraordinary programs the CSIRO\'s Data61 subsidiary is pursuing within Australia\'s relatively new but growing field of digital aquaculture. If successful, it could give the country\'s fisheries industry a huge boost as scientists test innovative technologies to unlock secrets that the oceans have been holding on to for perhaps millions of years.
